International Creative Capital CEO and President Kevin Hanson accompanied Minnesota Governor Dayton on a trade mission to China, along with 50 other local government officials, academics, and business leaders. Representatives from well-regarded businesses such as 3M, Medtronic, and Best Buy joined on this trade mission.
“China is a growing market for Minnesota manufacturers, service providers, and agribusinesses. Building relationships with Chinese leaders, expanding markets for Minnesota products, and encouraging reverse investment are all aimed at growing our state’s economy and creating more jobs for Minnesotans.” – Governor Dayton
China is Minnesota’s second largest export market. The country received $2.3 billion in Minnesota exports last year. China accounts for more than 25 percent of all agricultural exports from Minnesota. Trade missions like these have helped in the 800 percent increase of Minnesota’s agricultural products over the past decade.
The delegation met with high-ranking Chinese executives and government officials in Beijing, Shanghai, and Xian. Some of their objectives were exploring new trade opportunities, gaining potential business contacts and partners for Minnesota companies, and attracting Chinese investment in Minnesota.
